Welcome to the Greater Oak Hills Neighborhood!
A unity of neighbors --- isn't it nice to know who lives next door or down the street from you?

The Greater Oak Hills Civic Association (GOHCA) is a neighborhood Corporation whose object and purpose for which this organization was established was to preserve the character and integrity of Oak Hills Place and Oak Hills Park. There are 599 homes in the greater Oak Hills neighborhood.

Many of the goals set forth for that purpose have been achieved. To see some of the GOHCA achievements through the years, go to the GOHCA Membership page. It is because of members and volunteers that we are able to continue as an active civic organization. We communicate to the larger Baton Rouge community that we are a neighborhood with a voice interested in maintaining our property values. Without you, we have no voice because it is the larger voice that makes the roar. Please help us to maintain the integrity of Oak Hills. Join GOHCA today!

First Sunday at LA Art & Science Museum in Baton Rouge - 1:00 - 4:00 pm

On the First Sunday of every month, LASM offers free admission to art, children's and planetarium galleries, and reduced admission to special exhibitions and sky shows or large-format films. Please come and visit us and see all that LASM has to offer!

Treasure in our backyards!
Hilltop Arboretum is a 14 acre showcase with an extensive collection of Louisiana native trees and shrubs. It was donated by Emory Smith to LSU and adjoins Oak Hills Subdivision. It is a busy place with plant sales, educational programs, a pavilion for rentals, and a garden, book & nature shop. Join "Friends of Hilltop" and become active in its growth.

Hours: The Arboretum is open to the public free of charge during daylight hours seven days a week.
Tours: Self-guided tour maps are located on the grounds of the Arboretum. To schedule Group Tours, contact the Hilltop Office at (225) 767-6916 Tuesday-Friday between the hours of 9am - 3 pm. Check it out! Hilltop Arboretum

Reminder:
Remember that all the neighborhood drains do drain directly into the lake. Kindly remind your neighbors of this also.

Of immediate concern is the dumping of leaves or grass clippings directly into the drains - which could cause flooding of the streets and also require the city to come out to clean out the drains. Use your leaves to mulch your plants and gardens instead!

To minimize the effect of chlorinated pool water going into the lake, it is suggested that before draining your swimming pool, it should be allowed to set without chlorination for a period of time to allow the chlorine to dissipate before draining your pool.

Good Neighbor Tips for Your Yard and Home
(taken from GOHCA Neighborhood Directory 2004-2005)

Whether selling or just having pride in your yard and home; these tips should serve as a check list for all of us.

Mow, trim, and fertilize your lawn as needed.
Cut back over-grown shrubbery.
Trim or prune bushes and trees.
Weed and mulch your planting beds. Plant flowers or shrubs.
Add a wreath on the door or a pot of flowers beside the door.
Keep the condition of the paint looking fresh and clean.
Keep gutters clean and outside lights working.
Keep carports and garages neat and free of clutter.
Keep porches, sidewalks and driveways swept clean.
Put trash such as (wood scraps, limbs, boxes, etc.) on curbside the night before garbage/trash pick-up and remove any leftover trash and garbage cans promptly after pick-up.
Park your automobiles in your carport or on your driveway.
Never park your "For Sale" auto in front yard or entrance to subdivision.
If this seems like more work than you can handle, why not hire a teenager who lives in the neighborhood to help you?

The list above makes a home beautiful, adds curbside appeal and lets others see what wonderful neighbors we are in Oak Hills. No wonder we are one of the most sought after neighborhoods in South Baton Rouge!
